I Need Your Help!

What Jewelry styles to stock my store

What Jewelry Styles? I Need Your Help to stock my store. Help me with the generational gap to know what is popular.

I need help to stock my jewelry store. The generational gap became apparent as I was reading posts on the Blogger’s Pit Stop, I came to Leslie’s tutorial on how to make a jewelry organizer. I was more interested in her lovely jewelry than in the organizer. (What a great organizer idea to easily see what you have available to wear.)

That is when I realized that I need help. If you have a minute to educate me on the styles of jewelry that are popular or you like, I would appreciate it very much.

I need help with my store -knowing the styles of jewelry that are popular or that you like, Click To Tweet

In 2005, I owned an Internet jewelry store, the story is on my About page. Back then the big thing was Cubic Zirconias, they were the economical solution for those of us who could not afford diamonds.

I loved glitter and shine and that is what I filled my store with along with lots of sterling silver.

I still like that jewelry today, but I know that others have a much wider appreciation of types and popular styles.

What Jewelry Styles?

My new store has branched out to sell more than jewelry but today I am concentrating on jewelry and which styles you like.

If you want you can take a look, click on Luvit Products, then on Shine after Five. There is more jewelry under Classy Casual.

I will leave some questions here to prompt some of the comments I would like you to leave below.

Do you like –

Metal tones of Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Copper, or Charcoal?

When you dress for more formal occasions do you go for the glitter of zirconias or diamantes and rhinestones, or perhaps pearls?

Generally, would you be attracted to bold statement jewelry that is larger and more colorful?

Do you like large colorful beads?

What sort of earrings? Studs, large or small? Dangle, shoulder dusters? Ear cuffs?

Do you like to add a bracelet?

Are you interested in anklets?

Do you use/like hair jewelry?

So many people are under budget stress and I wanted this store to enable them to buy nice things that will not cause a budget blowout. I could charge 100 or 200% more but I have chosen to keep markups to a minimum. On top of that, two days a week I have a super sale. To do this I work with the warehouses who sometimes put on two or three-day specials. I grab some of those items and pass the savings on to my lucky customers.  Sign up, on the right, to be notified when these hot sales start. No pressure to sign up, I do send a $2.00 coupon to those who sign up, every dollar goes a long way in my store.

I add more products every day and that is why I would appreciate your input on jewelry style.

Thank You,

Kathleen you have so many diverse interests! In answer to your questions (some of them) I’m a yellow gold (or pretend yellow gold) girl – I love pendants and bangles. I don’t tend to wear rings other than my wedding set. I don’t go anywhere special enough to wear blingy type jewelry these days. I also like the three strand type necklaces that are popular atm. Hope that helps 🙂

Ah, jewelry — I like it all! 🙂 Seriously, haha! I like the longer necklaces that add a punch of color to a monochrome outfit. I like the shorter bold pieces that bring personality to a plain neckline. I like colorful dangly earrings, but I DON’T like heavy earrings (which explains why I almost exclusively wear a pair of diamond studs my husband gave me 21 years ago!). I like silver and gold (or fake tones!), but I don’t really care for the rose gold, though I know it is popular right now. For formal, I go with either the bling of crystals or the class of pearls, depending on the dress and the event. I love bracelets but don’t usually wear them because they get in the way.

Sorry, this didn’t really narrow anything down, did it? I DO love all your varied interests! I’ll also be signing up for your emails announcing your sales!

Wendy your comments are very helpful and I can see some possibilities that I should add to my store.

for me, I like silver and white gold and wear a lot of necklaces but not a lot of earrings. I am not opposed to bracelets as well but I like things understated 🙂

Hi, I do love silver jewelry or silver that looks slightly tarnished, to,d us very nice as well and I love to Mix and match . I like long necklaces for certain occasions, but a necklace that sits above m breasts or just inbetween at the top is nice for every occasion. . I love colourful rhinestones and pearls, often more chunky but still elegant for special occasions. I also like necklaces that have a beautiful pearl or a certain color/kind of stone in the centre for many occasions. BLue sapphire, turquoise, light pink, and sometimes layering these stones with necklaces of varied lengths in gold or silver.

Different simple necklaces, some with silver or gold leaves, animals, feathers, etc. All work and a creative, unique necklace that doesn’t look cheap is always nice. Where I live in Edmonton, AB, Canada we have a store called ‘The Plade Giraffe on Whyte Ave’ that has wonderful artistic but unique jewelry. As well, Anthropolgie.com often has neat jewelry, as well as Stella and Dot. I think jus looking on these sights would give you great ideas for your store.

As well. I love cuffs, but they need to be able to fit medium to large and large to extra large wrists. I like artistic jewelry of quality and cuffs/ or layered smaller braces are nice. Although I wouldn’t do this again, I see many girls in high school and university wearing chokers with certain outfits.

Thanks Amanda, I can see your creativeness in your jewelry choices, you have given me lots to look for and I appreciate your input very much. I will check those websites.

I like yellow gold, bronze, and antique gold. I enjoy wearing matching sets (necklace, bracelet, earrings). To go along with my diamonds, I also like anything that sparkles 🙂 Thank you Kathleen for linking up at the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I shared this post.

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

I certainly need to search for more gold based jewelry, thanks so much for taking the time to share and help my choices. Here’s to sparkles 🙂

I like classic. Nothing fussy or wild. I tend to keep my gold hoops (small) in all the time. I have a gold chain I wear all the time. I do like my bracelets and I’ll switch to something modern and fun. That’s about it. I really think it’s a waste of money to purchase accessories that will only fit one outfit.

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

Thanks so much Marisa, it is good to hear your jewelry preferences. It can be fun to mix and match.

  • Donna

Thank you for asking us, Kathleen. I am also prefer yellow gold, and as I age, I prefer more simple pieces. It is very interesting to read what different styles attract different readers. #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty

It is very interesting Donna. I certainly underestimated the love for gold jewelry, I will go and search out some more gold products.

Kathleen, I like silver and lighter colors. I like the long layered looks as well as the shorter choker type looks, but not too much in the middle. I actually wear a lot of black or brown leather necklaces with pendants. I like snap jewelry that I can change out and coordinate with whatever I am wearing at the time. I love rings and bracelets. I have to be careful with bracelets though because they get in my way when I am typing. So bangles are definitely out, just out of necessity. My favorite bracelets are leather or leather snap bracelets. I guess you would say I am more into the trendy jewelry styles. Earrings are my absolute favorite. I have double piercings so I am always wearing 2 in each ear. I like dangling earrings. Whenever I am at a craft show I have to stop and buy at least one pair.

I’m really excited to check out your shop and see what you have!

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

I really appreciate your comments Dianna. You have given me heaps of ideas, I will be searching to find some of these styles to put into the store. I would think that many would enjoy the same sort of creative jewelry. Thank you for joining the weekly 2-day Catalog, I will be sending you a coupon for joining.

Hi Kathleen, I love white gold, stainless steel and silver jewelry. I am a bangles girl and in answer to your question, yes I do like anklets during the summer and toe rings as well. I love jewelry that light can dance off of, if that makes sense. Thank you for sharing this post with #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty.

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

Clearissa, your choice of jewelry absolutely makes sense to me, those lights that dance can change and brighten our look in a good way. The stainless steel that you mentioned is great, at the moment I mainly have men’s jewelry in stainless steel. I will be looking up more of the styles you have mentioned. Thanks so much for your help.

To be honest, I am a little lazy and wear basic diamond studs in my ears, a solitaire wedding ring, and another diamond ring on my right hand most days. I do have a preference for silver colored jewelry. I like the look of bold statement pieces, but don’t feel confident choosing the right pieces with the right outfit. Thank for linking up with #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I hope you get the input you are looking for.

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Christie. I am sure the jewelry you do wear looks great on you.

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

Lori, I like your style, I will have to stock some anklets and toe rings. I love dangle earrings too.
Thanks for being kind enough to comment.

I’m not a big jewelry wearer, but when I do, I wear silver. I like longer pendants with one big charm or ring or something. i don’t like things that are very heavy. I adore the sapphire ring my husband bought me in St. Maarten which is unusual because I never go for expensive jewelry and my husband usually doesn’t buy it for me either!

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

Thanks for your comments on jewelry Michele, You will always treasure the beautiful ring your husband bought for you.

  • Carol ("Mimi")

I find that I’m wearing more and more silver jewelry. In past years, I wore mostly yellow gold. I tend to dress casually and to wear casual jewelry. ALWAYS earrings and occasionally necklaces and bracelets. Thank you for linking up at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I’m sharing your link on social media.

    • Kathleen Aherne Post author

Thanks Carol, your comments are very helpful. Some people find that as they mature, gold looks a bit more aging than silver does. I am with you on always earrings.

  • Teresa

I primarily wear silver jewelry, but it is pretty much limited to necklaces and earrings. I like long and short necklaces; it all depends on the outfit. My earring choice is dangles or hoops, but since I am a small person, I don’t go too long on the dangles. Thank you Kathleen, for sharing your store with us at the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty.
